This course is intended for Kansas CMAs completing the required update for renewal.

Please verify your certification status and expiration date on the Kansas Nurse Aide Registry (KNAR). You will need this information for the registration form.

Important: Your CMA certificate does not have to be current, but it cannot be lapsed by one year or more.

2 Enroll & Submit Payment

Register for the Kansas CMA Update course and complete your payment securely online.

Tip: Enter your name exactly as it appears on the state registry to help prevent processing delays.

3 Course Confirmation & Access

You’ll receive a confirmation email with next steps and course information.

Our team will add you to Canvas, our online learning platform. Course access will be provided by 5:00 PM on the course start date, once registration is processed.

4 Complete the Online Update

Work through the online curriculum in Canvas covering current regulations, best practices, and medication safety topics.

Content includes medication types, dosage calculations, drug interactions, and other essential updates for safe administration.

5 KDADS Paperwork & State Processing

After the course ends, required paperwork is submitted to KDADS for processing.

KDADS typically takes a minimum of 2 weeks to process the update after submission.

Next step for students: Please check the Kansas Nurse Aide Registry a few days after processing to confirm your information has been updated. Due to student volume, individual lookups cannot be routinely completed by instructors or staff.

I began my nursing career as a Licensed Practical Nurse after completing my LPN program at Wichita Area Technical College. I later earned my Registered Nurse degree from Pratt Community College and most recently completed my Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Throughout my career, I have worked across a wide range of clinical and professional settings, including cardiac care, medical surgical, orthopedic, and wound care units, post cardiac catheterization recovery, home health, and long term care.

Education has always been a central part of my professional journey. My goal is to foster a supportive, organized, and engaging learning environment where expectations are clear and students feel confident asking questions and developing their skills. I value accountability, collaboration, and the practical, real world application of knowledge.

No, there are no clinicals for a KS C.M.A. update

Canvas is fully functional on many types of smartphones and tablets. Compatible devices include platforms such as iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch, Android, Palm and Blackberry. However, it is recommended that you do not solely rely on one of these devices to complete your online course work.

For example, We Care Online has a class from Jan. 1 through Jan 7th.  You have that open window to get ten hours in at your convenience.  You can finish early, just not late.  Paperwork will not go to KDADS until the day after the class ends.

It is a ten-hour course as required by KDADS.  You must put ten hours into the class. 

You can enroll in our courses by paying a non-refundable registration fee up front and you can then make payments on the balance. You can make the payments any way you choose at any time you choose as long as the course is paid before the course start date.

For scheduled courses, balances must be paid in full prior to the course start date. If payment in full has not been received, you will be taken out of the course. You will forfeit your Registration Fee.

You have one year from your “inactive” date to take a renewal course, anything after a year requires a full CMA course in order to pass medications.  Please note, once you show “inactive” you are not allowed to pass medications.
