Take a Self-Care Day

Self-care is taking deliberate time for yourself to relax, recharge, unwind, and have some fun.  Our lives are often consumed with work and school and countless other commitments that we often forget to slow down and take a day all for ourselves.  Self-care is important because it sets aside time for yourself and your needs. In order to stay healthy and contribute to healthy relationships, self-care is necessary. Self-care involves your physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental health.  What kind of self-care activities do you practice? Here are some ideas of self-care activities to try on your next self-care day:

  • Try a new restaurant or coffee shop
  • Watch a new movie or maybe an old favorite
  • Go on a hike
  • Call a friend or loved one
  • Work on your favorite hobby
  • Read a good book
  • Listen to your favorite music
  • Cook a new recipe or an old favorite
  • Invite some friends over for dinner
  • Pamper yourself with a new haircut
  • Renovate a small space in your home
  • Take a nap
  • Enjoy a hot bath
  • Dig out an old board game
  • Go for a drive or a bike ride
  • Find a new podcast to listen to
  • Make no plans
  • Clean out a closet or space in your home
  • Make a list of goals or a dream list
  • Start a new hobby
  • Get a manicure or do it yourself
  • Play your favorite sport
  • Take a day trip to a new or favorite spot

Although taking a full day of self-care is ideal, it is not always practical with our busy schedules. Try a half day or a few hours of consistent self-care time.  Cheers to taking some self-care time for yourself this month!
