How to Stay Healthy During the Holiday Season

The holiday season is upon us and is not slowing down!  The holidays are a special time of the year filled with celebrations, family, friends, traveling and much more.  With these occasions, come added responsibilities and potential stressors that could weaken the immune system.

A weakened immune system can lead to an increase in receptivity to germs and ultimately end in sickness.  It is important to
remind yourself and those around you of the simple ways to keep yourself protected and healthy.
Get enough sleep. Sleep is one of the first things many of us try to reduce in order to allow more time for the day. However, it is important to allow your body time to rest.  Ensure that you are getting a full 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night.  Sleep is your body’s time to bring itself back to normal and recharge the areas that were compromised throughout the day.
Drink enough water. It is easy to get tempted with the many delicious holiday beverages available this time of year, but it is important to remember your body still needs water. Make sure to drink your regular 8 to 10 glasses of water per day.
Wash your hands. Remember to wash your hands before touching anything that comes in contact with your face or items that you will ingest. Touching items that were first touched by someone sick spreads most germs.
Let us make the most of this holiday season and ensure we are a part of everything we have planned, by staying healthy!  Kindly remind those around you, who may be sick, to avoid spreading germs by also washing their hands, coughing/sneezing into a tissue and staying home to rest.  To see additional ways to staying healthy please click here:
