Providing Stability To Yourself

In our world there is a lot of uncertainty and unpredictability that can cause us to feel stressed or worried. One of the ways we can cope and push through, is to focus on providing an area of stability to ourselves. Stability can come in many forms and can be unique to our personal needs. One way we can start this, is by taking care of our body and health’s basic needs. Our basic needs in this area can include our diet, sleep, exercise, and emotional support. Here are some ideas to caring for your basic health needs:

 

  • For sleep, consider setting a bedtime and wake-up time that allow for a sufficient amount of sleep for yourself. Sticking to a sleep schedule can provide stability to your body.
  • When focusing on a healthy diet, stock your refrigerator with foods that are good for you, and avoid buying ones that are not nutritious. Make healthy meal choices daily, or maybe starting with one healthy meal each day.
  • Set aside time each week to exercise. Start with once a week and work your way up to several times per week. Choose an exercise activity you enjoy and that is reasonable for you to accomplish each
  • Stay connected with your support system and know when you need to rely on them for Looking after your mental health and well-being is just as important as meeting your physical health needs.

 

Making small changes for healthy habits and keeping consistent with them, can go a long way in providing stability for yourself!
