What Is The Healthcare of Tomorrow Conference?

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding healthcare improvement, since President Trump declared the opioid crisis a health emergency in the United States on October 26, 2017.  Leading the discussion of healthcare reform in the United States is the Healthcare of Tomorrow Conference.  The Healthcare of Tomorrow Conference is an annual event run by the U.S. News and World Report.  This conference gathers together leaders in the healthcare industry for three days, to discuss the leading issues, in an effort to exchange ideas, set new criteria of patient care and share methods.  In attendance, are hospital directors, insurers, medical experts, politicians, consumer advocates and industry analysts.  All of these experts gather together to discuss the challenges faced by medical providers in the United States and how we need to make changes for the future.
In this year’s conference, held November 1 through November 3, 2017, experts discussed new technology, medical costs and the opioid crisis.  The new technology discussed included advanced computers designed to diagnose disease, and science to create personalized healthcare.  The opioid crisis was a larger topic of discussion and experts shared the need for integrated healthcare systems.  Integrated healthcare systems are health care structures that share information among professionals to address biological, psychological and social needs of the patient. For addressing opioid use, the conference discussed the need for combining three areas to treat patients: self-care, alternative medicine and conventional medicine.  In addition, the conference explored ways to reduce the cost of healthcare through ongoing research.
